I have read a lot of impressive articles about the new Archos G9 80. It is a tablet PC that aims to compete with similar products that are in the market today.
In this Archos G9 80 Review, you will find out more about the features of the new tablet as well as its design.
Archos G9 80 will run on Android 3.1 Honeycomb when launched in September.
When the tablet was launched, it was unclear whether or not Archos will allow their consumers to access updates to Android Ice Cream Sandwich which the operating system will be launching a few months after Archos G9 tablets hit will become available in stores.
The Archos G9 tablets will have Wi-Fi connectivity but there will be no 3G model. However, consumers will have the ability to use a 3G stick to be able to access it. The tablets will support a 3G stick that will be retailed for $49.
The device will have a USB specific slot where you can slide the 3G stick and you won’t even know that it’s there. It’s not clear though whether or not you will be able to plug other USB devices into the slot or if it is intended only for the 3G stick.
Archos G9 80 has a 1024 x 768 display. It runs on a CORTEX A9 OMAP4 1.5 GHz which is considered as the fastest dual-core processor at the moment. It also features a 250 GB Hard Drive which is huge compared to that of other tablet PCs in the market.
You do have the option though of choosing a Hard Drive or flash model.
Getting a Hard Drive model will make your Archos G9 3mm thicker and 4 ounces heavier. The physical dimensions are different so you will have to decide early on whether or not you would want to use a Hard Drive or flash model.
G9 prices are much lower compared to other brands and models of tablet PCs in the market.
